Description
Ever since I saw Cullen sporting his lion helm in one of the initial trailers, I was super stoked to work on it - mainly because that tongue sticking out made my day!
The helm started off as a free form sculpt out of clay. I had only screen caps off the trailer to work with, so I took a bit of time making sure I got it as accurate as possible. Once the sculpt was finished, I constructed a mold; starting with a silicone jacket which was then covered with a support shell made out of plasti paste.
Once the mold set up, I did a "cold cast" which involved combining aluminum powder with Smooth On 325 resin. Once the resin set, I buffed the surface with a steel wool pad to bring out the shiny undercoat of aluminum.
This is just the initial cast, so I am going to do another run later and attach a faux fur mane to the back and a leather strap for adjustable wearing.
Hope everyone likes this and Happy DA:I Release Day to everyone!

Nicely done! if this is the first cast result, I can hardly wait to see the next. You cast it as a whole piece right? no mobile parts? and good hand for free-hand sculpt detailing. Love it!
